HOW TO GET TO RAJA AMPAT FROM SORONG



THE GATEWAY TO VISIT RAJA AMPAT

Sorong is a growing city in Papua which has been the gate to visit Raja Ampat.  Sorong provides accommodations, means of transports such as taxi and public buses. Visiting Raja Ampat will need one night staying in Sorong before the next early morning departure from the harbor heading of to Raja Ampat Archipelagoes.

Some other cities in Indonesia provide domestic flights such as Jakarta, Bali, Manado, and Makassar (Ujung Pandang).  Flying from Jakarta and Bali are connecting flight with stop over either in Manado or Makassar, change the aircraft and continue flying to Sorong.  Flying from Jakarta mostly use large aircraft.

International routes such as Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and Singapore are the gateway to Indonesia with optional flight itinerary directly to the East part of Indonesia such as Makassar or Manado.  Travel agents will provide connecting flights from your home country to suite your agenda to arrive in Sorong.

ITINERARY TO VISIT RAJA AMPAT INDONESIA ON BUDGET



ITINERARY PLAN

Day 0

Arrive in Sorong, stay overnight in a hotel and prepare for departure early the next morning. 


Day 1 - Sorong to Bat Island

We depart early in the morning to Waigeo where we explore Friwenbonda, a small island which is filled with colorful soft coral and many kinds of fish. After snorkeling we then continue to a special channel that has dense jungle coming down to the edge of the water and beautiful rock formations.

Activities: snorkeling Friwenbonda, the Passage and it’s caves.

  
Day 2-4 - Bat Island - Wayag

Depart in the morning heading to Wayag island. This is one of the most beautiful islands in the Raja Ampat. There are amazing karts pinnacles, lagoons and rich coral reefs. Besides snorkeling, we can also do two hikes.

Day 4 - Wayag – Fam Island.

Depart in the morning to Fam Island. Exploring this well known island. Depart to Mansuar in the afternoon

Day 5 – Mansuar - Pulau Dua

Explore the Northern strait of Manswar Island. This strait hosts some of the best of Raja Ampat’s reefs. Depart to Pulau Dua in the afternoon

Day 6 - Explore Kri Island

Visit a local village or go to Batanta for an easy trek to a beautiful waterfall.

  1. Our boat is not a liveaboard or luxery boat but a traditional big boat
  2. This is not a fixed route. Sometimes it is changed depending on weather conditions.
  3. Since our boat is big enough to stay overnight we normally sleep on the boat just one or two time we sleep in the tent.
  4. We prepare the trips for each participants individually.

  1. PIN is Personal Identification Number. A regulation set up by the local government and conservation organizations for tourism in the Raja Ampat area is that each tourist is required to buy an entrance PIN which is valid for one year. This fund will go to the several programs organized by the Government and the stakeholders all of which are intimately involved with conservation.

    • PIN price: international tourists - 1 Million or about Euro 85/person for one year calender. Domestic tourist: Rp 250,000/person.
